About Championship
Genius Olympiad is an international high-school competition that champions environmental research and action across academic and creative fields. Within this spectrum, the Entrepreneurship discipline specifically invites young innovators to design market-ready ventures that address environmental challenges — from circular-economy products and clean-tech services to social enterprises tackling local sustainability issues. This track blends rigorous research with practical business planning, asking students to prove both ecological impact and commercial feasibility.
Entrants in the Entrepreneurship discipline typically submit a structured project that reads like a compact start-up dossier: an executive summary, a concise business plan (including market analysis and basic financials), evidence of product or service feasibility (prototype, pilot data or design mock-ups), and a presentation or display for judges. Selected finalists (the Olympiad usually invites around 400–500 finalists overall) gather for a week-long finals event at Rochester Institute of Technology in June — an intensive forum for presentations, feedback and networking. Awards include medals, certificates and discipline-specific prizes; all finalists receive official recognition for their work. For full entry details and submission guidelines, see the Genius Olympiad Entrepreneurship discipline page.
Eligibility: High-school students (typically ages 14–18); individual or team entries are accepted, usually with teacher supervision.
Format: Written project (business plan/report, 4–10 pages) plus any deliverables (prototype photos, slide deck, short video). Finalists present live at RIT for oral Q&A before an international judging panel.
Tentative Dates: Applications usually open in late 2025; deadlines are often in March; finalists announced in spring with finals held mid-June (2025 finals were 9–13 June). Exact 2026 dates and submission requirements are published on the official site.
Prizes: Medals and certificates for top projects in each discipline, special awards for innovation and entrepreneurial potential, and official finalist recognition for all who reach the finals.
Facts: Genius Olympiad attracts teams from 70+ countries (2019 saw ~1,512 students from 78 countries) and is widely regarded as one of the leading youth platforms where environmental research meets enterprise and creativity.
